Well, Candy, it could be worse. I could have revealed to the world that you were a Scientologist. Oops, cat's outta the bag. :D

Thanks Jeff, it was a blast and I enjoyed every minute. I don't even mind that you outed my vestigial Canadianism to the internets.

Funny stuff, Jeff. Let me know if you need any clarifications about rednecks. There are variations that a friend and I created years ago. For example, there's "Suburban Sprawler", "Rebel Yeller", "Peace Piper", and "County Liner". I can provide definitions, if you'd like. Being from the South (Virginia), I grew up hating it; but then later, as an adult (and moving out of the South by choice), I began to "appreciate" all of its crazy, odd, and contradictory ways. For example, I have a Southern cousin who went to Stamford and William & Mary, is liberal, and became a successful magazine editor in London. On the SAME side of the family, I have a redneck cousin who voted for Bush twice, grows pot in his backyard, drives without a license due to too many DUI's, and is dating a stripper with two illegitimate children. That, to me, is the crazy, contradictory mess that the South is all about.

Unlike a lot of the Midwest, you will never find The South boring or lacking in characters. Furthermore, The South I grew up in (a heavily military, historical, diverse region) is much, much different than many of the places found below the Mason Dixon. I am actually grateful for that. I went to school with Navy, NATO, and Coast Guard kids from all over the States and beyond. Some Southerners don't even consider Virginia to be The South, despite the fact that Richmond was the Confederate capital city. My lands! I do declare!

Actually, it's "Virginia Is for Lovers", not Kentucky. If you saw it in Kentucky, then they stole it. Virginia had it since the 1970s. Those blue-grass bastards!

Why would anyone laugh at Yoda's pearl of wisdom? It's a great statement. Maybe I should start wearing a bracelet with WWYD to remind me "what would Yoda do?" May they Force be with you always.

Great post. Some people spend too much time worrying about how other people's behavior reflects on them instead of focusing on how how their own behavior reflects on themselves.

I wish more queers would stop thinking we all have to emulate or live up to the heterosexual "norms" in our lives, relationships, social activities, politics, etc. Yes, I know we are all a diverse bunch. It's true. I just have to accept it. Having said that, I still can't stand how the media always goes for the extreme stereotypical imagery when it comes to gay-related events.

Personally, I get offended by most of what I experience whenever I set foot in Boystown — Abercrombie & Fitch clones, khaki shorts and flip-flops, cologne, attitude, baby strollers, bourgeois condo queens shopping at Whole Foods, dragzillas, etc. I don't relate. So I choose not to go over there. It's just not my cup of urine... and I ♥ watersports! LOL.

I think you're being too generous with your co-worker. That kind of shame around sex is a pretty heavy load to drag around. Being vanilla is one thing. Being trapped in vanilla by a prison of shame is another. Not only is it a terrible political strategy IMO, but it's also *self*-destructive.
